(1789 - 9 Feb 1847)
CARTHAGE, N. C., Feb. 12, 1847.
"Dear Sir: you will be pained to hear of the death of JOHN B. KELLY, Esq. which took place, at his residence, near here, on Tuesday morning last. He had been unwell some week or two previous to his death.
Mr. Kelly possessed as noble and generous a heart, as ever inhabited a human breast. His rather unexpected death has cast a deep gloom over our whole community. He was a man possessing many virtues, and but few faults."
