Nelle Barbara Anne Rochester, 84, formerly of 170 Rochester Circle, Walhalla, SC, wife of the late Dewey Paul Rochester, Sr., died Friday, June 1, 2012 at Morningside Assisted Living in Seneca, SC.
A native of Greer, SC, Mrs. Rochester was the daughter of the late H. T. and Ethel Greer Westmoreland. She graduated from Winthrop College and moved to Tamassee to begin her life passion of teaching business education courses to high school students. She retired from teaching as an assistant principal at Tamassee Salem High School. She had been a member of Walhalla Presbyterian Church since 1950 and was a member of the Oconee County Retired Educators' Association, and D. A. V. Auxiliary.
Mrs. Rochester is survived by a son, Dewey Paul Rochester, Jr. (Jane) of Charlotte, NC; daughter Pamela Anne Cantrell (Jack) of Walhalla, SC; two grandchildren, Jason Paul Cantrell and Callie Anne Cantrell; and one great-grandson, Drayden Ace Cantrell.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Rochester was predeceased by brothers, Troy Westmoreland, Hugh Westmoreland, and Joe Westmoreland.
Funeral services will be held Monday, June 4, 2012 at 4:00 PM at Davenport Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Oconee Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Monday, June 4, 2012 from 3:00-4:00 PM, prior to the service, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Walhalla Presbyterian Church, SUS Fund, P. O. Box 917, Walhalla, SC 29691.
