PIEDMONT - Mrs. Mattie Davis, ,85, of 106 Alabama St., died Thursday afternoon at 2:10 o'clock at her home following a long illness.
Funeral services were held this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at Nances Creek Methodist Church with the revs. J. W. Forshee and John Phares officiating. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery. Gray Brown-Service of Piedmont directed.
She was survived by two sons, J. R. of Gadsden, and Boyd Davis of Anniston; three daughters, Mrs. Herman Alexandria (s/b Alexander), Mrs. James Eubank, ,and Mrs. W. C. Cannon, all of Piedmont; two brothers, R. F. Lusk of Gadsden and E. M. Lusk of Jacksonville; one sister, Mrs. F. B. Morgan of Gadsden; and 11 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
Active pallbearers were Hillard Love, Fain Love, Onnie Savage, Pinky Roberts, Raymond Lusk and Harold King.
The stewards of Nances Creek Methodist Church acted as honorary pallbearers.
Mrs. Davis was a lifelong member of Nances Creek Methodist Church and she had lived in Piedmont for the last 15 years.
