NEWTON, NC - Pauline Pearl Simons Propst, 83, of Newton, died Wednesday, July 7, 2010, at Brian Center-East in Hickory. Mrs. Propst was born Oct. 1, 1926, in Kingston, West Virginia, daughter of the late Lionel Clovis Simons and Gladys Spencer Simons. She was a homemaker and a member of Highland Baptist Church. Mrs. Propst is survived by her husband of 56 years, Willard Propst; daughter, Kathy Bogue and husband, Robert, of Jamul, Calif.; son, Dennis Propst of Newton; grandchildren, Daryl Johnson, Sarah Johnson, Kristelle Cole and Robert Cole; great-grandchildren, Nicholas Sarrault and Hali May Sarrault; sisters, Pattsy Irvin of Bluefield, W.Va., and Patricia Geritch of Florida; and brother, Pitt Simons of West Virginia. A service of remembrance will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 10, 2010, at Highland Baptist Church in Hickory, with the Rev. Jesse Lott officiating. Burial will follow in Catawba Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today, Friday, July 9, 2010, at Willis-Reynolds Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent to the Propst family at www.drumfuneralhome.com.
