(6 Mar 1923 - 19 Oct 2017)

Sarah Cannon, March 6, 1923 - October 19, 2017
Louisville, GA - Sarah Marie Mays Cannon, 94, loving wife of the late Judge Olin Benjamin Cannon Jr., entered into her eternal rest Thursday night, October 19, 2017 at University Hospital. Services to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday afternoon, October 26, 2017 at Louisville Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church. Private graveside services were held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday afternoon, October 22, 2017 at Louisville City Cemetery.
One of two children born to the late Ruth Mosteller Mays and the late James Allen Mays, Sarah was a lifelong resident of Louisville. As a young girl, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior and joined the fellowship of the Louisville ARP Church. She met Olin, the love of her life, as a teenager attending an ARP Young People’s Christian Union conference. After graduating high school, she attended Erskine College and Florida State College for Women, leaving school to marry Olin before he left for war. After his return home, they eventually settled in Louisville where he opened his law practice and she worked as his legal secretary. Sarah enjoyed life—the best part for her was spending time with her best friend, Olin, and her family for whom she provided a safe haven filled with her loving care and devotion. She was faithfully committed and devoted to her family, her church, friends and community. Never being one to enjoy the limelight, she was the steadfast anchor on whom people depended. Her legacy will forever continue in the hearts of those privileged to know her.
Sarah is also preceded in death by her brother, Dr. James L. Mays. Those left to cherish her memory include her two children, Mary C. Downey, and J. Olin Cannon (Pam); four grandchildren, Kara Downey (Evan Sparling), Ben Cannon (Brittany), Elizabeth Cannon and Drew Cannon; two great grandchildren, James Cannon and Sarah Cannon; two very special care-givers, Tina White and Mary Jones; her church family and extended family.
The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to the church she loved—Louisville ARP Church, P.O. Box 9, Louisville, GA 30434.
The family will receive friends in the Louisville ARP social hall after the 2:00PM services Thursday afternoon, October 26, 2017.
