Nina Ruth Dacus

Nina Ruth Dacus Babb, 82, of Greenville, died Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2005, in the St. Francis Hospital after an extended illness.
Born on April 26, 1923, in Greer, S.C., she was the daughter of the late William Doyle Dacus and Gladys Holland Dacus. Mrs. Babb retired from Britt Clary Food Brokers after 15 years of service and was a faithful member of the Hampton Heights Baptist Church for more than 50 years.
In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by four brothers, Warren Dacus, William Dacus, Marvin Dacus and John Dacus.
Surviving are her husband of 56 years, James S. Babb of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, James Allen and Valerie Anne Babb; and two granddaughters, Erin Michelle Babb and Jennifer Leigh Babb, all of Huntsville, Ala.; a sister, Lois Dacus Elmore of Greenville; five brothers, Jim Dacus of Greenville, Gene Dacus and Norman Dacus, both of Greer, Edwin Dacus of Ahoskie, N.C., and Neal Dacus of Irving, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 22, 2005, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the Woodlawn Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Allen Smith and the Rev. David Case. Interment will follow in the Woodlawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Thursday morning from 10 to 11 a.m., prior to the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Meals on Wheels, 15 Oregon St., Greenville, SC 29605; or to Hampton Heights Baptist Church, 2511 Wade Hampton Blvd., Greenville, SC 29615.
Woodlawn Funeral Home, Greenville, is in charge of arrangements.
