Otha Lee Clark

Otha Lee Clark, known by most of his friends simply as O. L., was the son of Willie Lee Clark and Alabama Ellis Clark of Ira, Texas.
Mr. Clark graduated from high school in Snyder, Texas, and played football at the Texas College of Mines and Metallurgy in El Paso, (which later became the University of Texas at El Paso). At the onset of World War II, he left school to work for Humble Oil and Refining Company in Baytown, where he worked for a year before being drafted. Mr. Clark is a decorated veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the Photo Reconnaissance Service during the War. He participated, and earned eight battle stars, in battles in Italy, France, Germany and the Balkans. After World War II, he returned to Humble Oil upon discharge, but left to form Clark's Wheel & Brake Service in 1947. He operated that business until his retirement in 1979. Mr. Clark was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church.
In April of 1947, O. L. Clark married Leona Hughes Geaslin, who preceded him in death in 1991. Besides his parents, Mr. Clark was preceded in death by his brother, T. J. Clark, and sister, Marine Clark Nieclecken. He is survived by his young sister, Wylna (Babe) Clark Lloyd of Odessa, Texas; stepdaughters, Dorothy Geaslin Quinlan of Reno, Neveda, and Helen Geaslin Jeffrey, and her husband David Jeffrey of Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Many grandchildren and great grandchildren also survive him.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009, in the chapel of Earthman Baytown Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Steel officiating. Burial followed at Hill of Rest Cemetery.
