Services for Bobby E. Porter, Sr., 68, of Diboll, will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. L. D. Adkinson officiating. Interment will follow in the Whitehouse Cemetery. Mr. Porter was born January 22, 1928 in Center, Texas, and he died Thursday November 28, 1996 in his residence. Mr. Porter was a retired security guard for Temple-Inland. He was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church, and had served in the U. S. Army during World War II and the KOREAN Conflict.
Survivors include his wife, Edna Porter; sons, Bobby Porter, Jr., Calvin Porter, Randall LaRoyce Porter; daughters, Shirley Ann Smith, Tammy Renee Parish, Wanda Denise Griffin and Barbara Temple; brother, Hubbard Sam Porter; sisters, Gwen White, Margie Barber, Opal Adkinson, Cossette Martin and Jackie Sanford; 8 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter and a number of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Porter was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Mollie Rose Porter in 1995. Pallbearers will be Gary Griffin, Gary Williams, Charles Parish, Ricky Kee, Wayne Bartczak and David Smith.
