Doreen Ann Kelley

(15 Sep 1928 - 25 Feb 2009)

Doreen A. Lenz, 80, of Prairie du Chien, died Wednesday, Feb 25, 2009, at Memorial Hospital in Prairie du Chien, surrounded by her loving family.
Doreen is survived by four children. Also surviving are six grandsons; five granddaughters; fifteen great grandchildren; a life-long friend, Jeanne; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Charles and Cleo Lenz, George and Erla Lenz, William and Vern Lenz, Karl and Delores Mockrud, Beverly Kelley, and Gertrude Koecke.
Doreen Ann was born September 15, 1928, to Emmett and Jennie (Childs) Kelley at Boscobel. She attended Gays Mills Schools, graduating in 1946. She married Dale Lenz on September 21, 1946, in Wauzeka. Together they farmed on Dutch Ridge before retiring in 1985. They were recognized as "Outstanding Farmers" in 1961 and we knew it was Mom's meticulous record keeping that made the "Lenzview Farm" a success.
Doreen was active in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, enjoyed many years helping with 4-H, was an Eastern Star member, and served on church council. She was a "Master Baker." Her signature product was cinnamon sticks, which she made by the dozens when the grandchildren were coming.
Doreen and Dale loved dancing to their era of music and they enjoyed square dancing with their friends. Making her square dancing dresses exhibited her beautiful sewing skills which later in life were exchanged for sewing beautiful quilts for each of her grandchildren. She will always be remembered as an avid sport fan who loved her Packers.
Doreen was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Marion Kelley; and her husband, Dale.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Saturday, February 28, 2009, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Rev. Joel Oines officiating. Burial in Wauzeka Cemetery, both in Wauzeka.
