Funeral of Mrs. Dillingham.
The funeral of Mrs. W. R. Dillingham, wife of Dr. W. R. Dillingham, whose death occurred at Halstead, Saturday morning, was held from the Hamlin Baptist church, Monday afternoon, July 26. Mrs. Dillingham, who was formerly Miss Ella Benner, a daughter of Mrs. Mary Benner, grew to womanhood in Hamlin. For many years the family owned the house in which the Ankrums now live, just adjoining the church in which Monday afternoon her body lay in state and where her many sorrowing friends of girlhood days paid their last respects to her whom everyone had learned to love and esteem. The funeral, which was held by Rev. J. C. Riblett, was very largely attended not only by Hamlin folks but also by friends from Sabetha, Morrill and other nearby communities. The church was a veritable flower garden, so many and profuse were the last tokens of love and sympathy. Interment was made in the Hamlin cemetery where other members of the family are buried. Accomp-anying the body to Hamlin were Mrs. Mary Benner, her mother, Dr. W. R. Dillingham and the two older children, Mrs. Howard Stapleton of Jewell county, where Mrs. Benner now makes her home, and Miss Maggie Price and James Benner.
