COTTONDALE | Oscar William Booker, Sr., age 96, of Cottondale, died January 24, 2014 at home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 27, 2014 at Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel with Todd Burkhalter officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Oscar was preceded in death by wife, Mildred Ward Booker; as well as a host of siblings, all originating from Tunnel Springs, Alabama.
Survivors include daughter, Judy Burt (Robert) of Cottondale; sons, Bill Booker (Sherry) of Cottondale, and Joe Booker (Nancy) of Cottondale; and grandchildren, Jodie Robinson of Kewanee, Ill., Jennifer O'Dell (Robin) of Brent, Julie McKinnon (Jamie) of Vance, and Robin Burt, Crystal Booker, and Samantha Booker all of Cottondale. He is also survived by longtime friend, Tim Payne.
Oscar was married on June 30, 1945 to Mildred Ward, and they were married for 61 years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He touched the lives of many in this area through his diligent work in the egg production and delivery business for many years in much of the East Tuscaloosa area.
Pallbearers will be John Jeans, Buster Jones, Robin O'Dell, Harold Ward, Mike Merriam, Sr., and R.H. Burns.
The family sends special thanks to Shelley, Freddie, and Kim for their special care during this time.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Coaling Baptist Church Building Fund.
