James Wesley Reece, 90, of Burlington, WA, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2017 surrounded by family.
James was born in Ledyard, IA on October 17, 1926. He grew up working on the family farm in Iowa until joining the Army where he became a medic during World War II. After the war he went to telegraph school and spent the first part of his working on the Denver- Rio Grande R.R. in Colorado and Washington.
James met the love of his life, Geraldine, and after a short 3 month romance the two were married. James and Geraldine were married for over 50 years and had three children, Elizabeth, Dale and Peter.
James ended his career at the young age of 55 with the US Government, GSA.
James was a man of faith. He was a member of the church choir and Sunday School Superintendent. He enjoyed visiting with anyone and everyone he came in contact with.
James loved restoring vintage farm gas engines and his 1952 Ford.
James is survived by his three children; Elizabeth (David) Barnhart, Dale (Cheryl) Reece, and Peter (DuRae) Reece; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren with two more on the way. He is also survived by two siblings and many nieces and nephews.
In the last four years of his life, James enjoyed spending his time and family with special friend Eva Anderson.
James was preceded in death by his wife Geraldine Reece; his parents Edward and Ovedia Reece and two siblings.
A Memorial Service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mount Vernon on Friday, September 1, 2017 at 10:00am with a reception to follow.
A graveside service will be held at Hawthorne Memorial Park on Friday September 1, 2017 at 1:00pm.
Arrangements are under the care of Hawthorne Funeral Home, Mount Vernon, WA.
