Orves "Pete" Doughman

Orves E. "Pete" Doughman the son of Ovid and Marie (Spilker) Doughman was born February 10, 1926 in Webster County, Nebraska. He departed this life on Monday, October 20, 2008 at the Webster County Hospital in Red Cloud, Nebraska at the age of 82 years.
Pete graduated from Eckley High School with the class of 1944 and farmed north of Guide Rock. Pete served his country with the United State Navy during World War II. Pete had worked in Civil Services for 20 years. Pete retired from farming and became a business man in Guide Rock for a number of years. On May 30, 1948 he was united in marriage to Betty Mae Thomas, Betty passed away in 1982. Pete then married Lee in December of 1987 and the couple made their home in Guide Rock.
Pete had served as the commander of the Cowles American Legion Post #116, served as the chairman of the Guide Rock City Board, was a member of the Webster County Senior Board and had been a lifetime member of the VFW and American Legion. Pete was also a member of the American Eagles and served the Guide Rock Volunteer Fire Department as member and chief.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Betty, brother Kenneth, infant sister Mary and son Michael in 1991.
Survivors include his wife Lee of Guide Rock, NE; daughters: Sandra Karnatz and husband Jerry of Schuyler, Nebraska; Debra Conley and husband Howard of Omaha, Nebraska; seven grandchildren: Tami Marshall and Jared of Eudra, Kansas; Todd Karnatz and Robin of Olathe, Kansas; Brent Karnatz and Jennifer of North Bend, Nebraska; Heather Conley of Austin, Texas; Justin Conley and Becky of Omaha, Nebraska; Ryan Conley of Omaha, Nebraska and Kyle Conley of Omaha, Nebraska; great granddaughter Ava Karnatz of Olathe, Kansas other relatives and a host of friends.
Graveside services with military honors were held Friday 2:00 p.m., October 24, 2008 at the Guide Rock Cemetery, Guide Rock, Nebraska. Pastor Ron Kuehner officiated.
Memorials are suggested to the Guide Rock Senior Center, Guide Rock, Nebraska.
