During this time of his life, the family enjoyed fishing, camping, and bowling. There were many bowling tournaments and trophies won. Dick, took great pride in teaching his 3 children how to bowl and how to be humble winners and gracious losers. He also was an avid and sometimes rabid Cornhusker fan. He followed the team religiously and could be found in front of the tv or close to a radio on game days.
He and Shirley parted ways in 1979 and after a time married Karen S. Bales who brought her daughters Kim and Kelly into his life. He continued to be close to all of his children and felt blessed to have such a full life. He and Karen enjoyed going to bowling tournaments and spending time with family and friends. They even took a Caribbean cruise with friends and family.
After his divorce, he enjoyed taking care of his house on the hill, gardening and taking up shooting in the American pool Association, where he made many new friends and reacquainted with some old ones. He loved to spend the winters in New Mexico with family.
Dick is preceded in death by his grandparents, Arthur & Gladys Burton, his parents, Cecil and Lois Burton, and Kim Campbell.
