Eliphalet Stickney (1747-1821) served, 1777, as a private in Capt. Samuel
Robinson's company, Col. Nathaniel Brush's regiment, Vermont militia, at the
battle of Bennington. He was born in Boxford, Mass.; died in Hartwick, Otsego County, N. Y.

ELIPHALET STICKNEY, b. in Boxford, Jan. 10, 1747; m. in Bennington, Vt., Joanna Wright, who d. Dec. 3, 1814. He was Surveyor of Highways in Bennington, Vt., March 1781; on the list of voters of Bennington, Sept. 1786; Pound keeper, Mch., 1791. In 1792 he conveyed two acres of land to Jonathan Wentworth, who succeeded him in the last named office. In the "Quarterly Gazetteer" a copy of Capt. Samuel Robinson's Roll, of those in the Battle of the 16th of Aug., 1777, contains the name of "ELIPHALET STICKNEY." He removed from Bennington, Vt., to Hartwick, Otsego Co., N. Y., a little south of the Black River Country. He died Dec. 12, 1821.
