Billy Joe Everett, 87, of Tyler, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, July 3, 2013 in Tyler.
He was born August 23, 1925 in the Colfax Community in Van Zandt County to the late Leon Everett and Carmel Martin Everett.
Billy Joe is survived by his wife, Nell, of 62 years; one daughter, Janet Everett Krakowski; two grandchildren; one brother, Ralph Gene Everett and one sister, Elizabeth Dianne Everett.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Neilan Maurice and Jerry Glynne.
Billy Joe was a United States Navy Veteran, having served three years in the South Pacific Theatre of operations during World War II; and fifteen months (1950-52), after being recalled to active duty during the Korean Conflict. He holds two Honorable discharges, one for each period of service. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1981 after 36 years of service.
He was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge, Knight's Templar, Sharon Shrine Temple, was honored in 1994 with a 50 year membership in St. John's Masonic Lodge and in 2013 with a 60 year membership in St. John's. Billy Joe and wife, Nell, were members of Green Acres Baptist Church and the GABC Care and Share Sunday School class.
He will be laid to rest at Rose Hill Cemetery.
