Edd Leo Deen, 83, died Saturday, December 22nd, 2012 at his home in Canton, Texas. He was born May 25, 1929 in Dallas, Texas where he lived until 1997.
Edd was a commissioned law enforcement officer for 52 years in Dallas, Texas. He started as a patrol officer for the Dallas Police Department in 1953. Edd patrolled the streets in the Oak Cliff area of Dallas, was a detective in the juvenile division and a sergeant in the Special Weapons and Tactical section from 1968 until 1983. He served in the Helicopter section from 1983 until his retirement on January 8, 1991 and was an officer with the Dallas County Sheriff's Department from January 9, 1991 until his retirement August 3, 2006.
Edd is preceded in death by his daughter Markie Deen Maynard and her husband, Paul L. Maynard, his granddaughter Julianne Maynard, and his brothers, James O. Deen, Jr. and Robert Deen.
Edd is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jean Mewbourn Deen; his daughter, Trudy Deen Davis and her husband Gary of Galveston; his granddaughter Marcie Maynard Vidinha and her husband Rob of Friendswood; his grandson, Deen Davis of Houston; and his great grandchildren Allie, Lauren and Evan Vidinha of Friendswood. He is also survived by his brother, Alford Deen and his wife, Juanita, of Bluffdale, Texas.
Pall bearers will be Dallas Police Officers of the Special Weapons and Tactical Section who served with Edd and honorary pall bearers will be officers of the Dallas Police Department.
The family will receive visitors at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton, Texas with burial immediately afterwards at Holly Springs Cemetery in Martins Mill, Texas.
