Nancy Kemp, 85, died Thursday, July 25, 2002, at Lallie Kemp Medical Center, Independence. She was a native of Van Zandt County, Texas. She attended Vanderbilt University and graduated from nursing school at Brackenridge Hospital School of Nursing in Austin, Texas. She retired with the state of Louisiana as nurse surveyor of certification and licensing. She served in the U.S. Army as second lieutenant at the Station Hospital, Camp Walter, Texas. She was also a former member of the Eastern Star and past president of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was the first member of First United Methodist Church.
She is survived by three nieces and one nephew.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Hugh H. O'Neill; and her second husband, Percy L. Kemp.
Visitation will be Saturday at Geisler Funeral Home, Hammond, from 8 a.m. until the funeral at 10. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery.
