Henry Adams

Second son of John Adams and his wife, Margerye Squire, who were married 1529 at Barton St. David.
Henry was christened at Barton St. David, Somerset, England.
He married Rose Stebbing (Dunkin) 12 August 1554 at Barton St. David.
Henry's father, John Adams [circa 1500/05], also lived all of his life at Barton St. David, and is the earliest found (at this date) member of this Adams' family line. He is on the Muster Roll for the tything of Barton in 1539 as "able bylman fyndyng harnys". He was charged with the duty of providing one "bowe" (bow) with a sheath of arrows as a tax on his goods.

Source text: The following is proof of birth year since it is his witnessing 25 May 1586 in Barton St. David and he says age 55 so born 1531 and since family in Barton St. David must be born there. Henry Adams was a witness at a slander trial 25 May 1586. At that time, he was a "husbandman of the Parrish of Barton David in the diocese of Bath and Wells, where he has resided from his birth, originating there, aged about 55." That same year he was also a tithing-man of Barton David, a tax gatherer for the parish with the power of constable. On 27 August 1574 he was a bondsman or surety at a wedding and was then a husbandman. (Warner-Harrington Ancestry," F.C. Warner, 1949)
