Funeral services for Bobby Fred Wakefield, 80, of Garland, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 27, 2012, at the Monica Park Christian Church in Garland with Mr. Jim Dungan officiating. Interment will follow at White Rose Cemetery in Wills Point under the direction of Allan Fuller Funeral Home in Wills Point.
He passed away Monday evening, July 23, 2012, at his home in Garland surrounded by his family.
Bob was born January 2, 1932, in Cooper, Texas, the eighth and final child of William Fred Wakefield and Lula Charlotte Donnell Wakefield. In 1950, he graduated from N.R. Crozier Tech High School in Dallas. After serving in the Navy as a young man, he returned to work for AT&T where he retired after forty years of service. Bob & Inez were married for thirty years and made their home in Garland. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed yard work and loved his cat Sassy. Bob touched the lives of many people and our world will never be the same.
Preceded in death by his parents, William Fred & Lula Charlotte Wakefield; three brothers, Floyd Atwood Wakefield, Travis Verdell Wakefield and Donald Loyd Wakefield and four sisters, Jonnie Dalton Wakefield, Fredie Imogene Wakefield Marshall, Monarea Wakefield and an infant baby girl.
Bob is survived by his wife, Inez Wakefield, of Garland; three sons, Greg Wakefield of Garland, Roger Wakefield & wife, Julie, of Sachse and Robert Wakefield, of Rowlett; four daughters, Diana Wakefield & husband, Ken Underwood, of Owings, MD, Sabra McCraw & husband, Mayfield, of Telephone, Deborah March, of Garland and Pamala Hinkle, of Dallas; eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers: Todd Sirkel, Randy Thrasher, Grant Speak, Donald Clem, Paul Estrada and Kevin Scott.
Family will receive friends at the Monica Park Christian Church in Garland Thursday from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
