Marjorie Crider Hornbuckle, 91, of Sour Lake, Texas, died peacefully in her sleep at her home of 50 years, April 18, 2013.
Marge was born on August 13, 1921, in Hodgenville, Kentucky, to Mary Twyman Crider and Dewitt T. Crider.
In 1941, she met the love of her life, Bob Hornbuckle. They were married in Spartanburg, South Carolina, on July 17, 1943. In 1959, the Hornbuckle's transferred to Beaumont with E.I. DuPont de Nemours & Co. Bob worked there thirty-seven years, retiring in 1984. Bob and Marge were active members of the DuPont retiree group and longtime members of First Baptist Church of Sour Lake. She was a devout Christian who accepted anyone and everyone and enjoyed having a room full of laughter whenever possible. Her home was a haven, the kitchen her altar, and hospitality a form of worship.
Marge was a devoted soul mate, housewife, good neighbor, and tireless school volunteer. Later in life, she served as a volunteer for the American Red Cross and Women and Children's Shelter of Beaumont. An avid reader, Marge also loved playing bridge, word games, and entertaining, but she was most comfortable surrounded by family.
She is preceded in death by the love of her life, husband, Bob Hornbuckle Sr.; beloved son, Randy Hornbuckle; and brother, Gerald T. Crider.
Survivors include her son, Bob Hornbuckle Jr. and his wife, Diana; daughters, Maribeth Jones and Susan Lydic and her husband, Phillip; daughter-in-law, Frankie Hornbuckle; ten glorious grandchildren and their families; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews and "adopted" grandchildren.
Interment: Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
