QUANAH - Larry Carl Barbour, M.D., 67, died Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004, in Amarillo.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Clinton Young officiating and the Rev. Bud Kidwell assisting. Burial will be at 4 p.m. in Shamrock Cemetery by Smith Funeral Home.
Dr. Barbour was born Oct. 3, 1936, in Dumas. He was the son of the late H.E. and Mary (Leight) Barbour. He was a graduate of Tulia High School in 1955. He received his bachelor of science from Baylor University and his doctorate from the University of Texas at Galveston in 1963. He served his internship at Well County General Hospital in Greeley, Colo., and in 1990, he received a family practice fellowship.
He married Fredericka Abbott on June 13, 1991, in Mobeetie.
He was a resident of Quanah and a physician at Hardeman County Memorial Hospital and Clinic since 2001. He previously practiced in Wheeler, where he was instumental in organizing and establishing the Parkview Hospital. He was a member of First Baptist Church and served in the National Guard.
Surivovrs include his wife; two daughters, Cheryl Linn Waggoner of Austin and Jennifer Jill Hefner of Hereford; a son, Larry Clayton Barbour of Liberty Hill; three stepdaughters, Rhonda Judith Yockay of Pinehurst, Rene' Janette Kitchens of Glenwood Springs, Colo., and Kathryn Fay Carter of Wray, Colo.; five grandchildren; and seven stepgrandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to Hardeman County Memorial Hospital, Parkview Hospital; or to a favorite charity.
