He married Elizabeth Clifford, daughter of Henry Clifford, 10th Lord Clifford, by Anne, daughter of John Saint John.
They were the parents of one son, George, Knight, and two daughters, Marjorie and Anne (wife of Christopher Metcalft, Knight.).
Sir Ralph Bowes fought at Flodden Field in 1513 and died in April 1516. His widow married William Tonge, of West Thickeley. They had one son, George and one daughter, Isabel (wife of Robert Thirkeld).
