Ronald J. Mathews, 69, of Liberty, Mo., was born July 19, 1946, to Lester and Byrnece Mathews in Kansas City, Mo., passed peacefully at home July 9, 2016. Ron was a 1965 graduate of North Kansas City High School before entering the U.S. Navy serving as active duty Corpsman from 1965 to 1967 and in the Naval Reserve from 1967 to 1971. Ron graduated from Central Missouri State University (now University of Central MO) with B.S. and M.S. degrees in Criminal Justice Administration. He served on the Gladstone Public Safety Department from 1974 to 1984 before entering the private sector as District Manager for several security guard companies in Kansas City and Pittsburgh, Pa. Ron retired from the Security Department of Hunt Midwest Enterprise in 2011. Ron is survived by his wife of 44 years, Teresa, three sons, Patrick, Nicholas (Dana) and Andrew, and four grandchildren, Luke, Layne, Leigh and Jessie Mathews. He is also survived by three brothers, Curt (Sue) of Jefferson City, Mo., Gary (Marge) of Goodyear, Ariz. and Keith (Patty) of St. Joseph, Mo. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday July 15, at White Chapel Funeral Home in Gladstone, Mo. Cremation and private inurnment at White Chapel Memorial Gardens will follow at a later date. The family wishes to thank Crossroads Hospice, especially Amy and Gracie, for their compassionate care and in Lieu of flowers family requests donations to the Crossroads Hospice Children's Camp in care of Crossroads Hospice, 2900 NE 60th St., Ste. 150, Gladstone, MO 64119.
