Dorothy May (Eggemeyer) Mathews, 83, of Corpus Christi, Texas passed away on Wednesday, May 04, 2016.
Dorothy was born on October 02, 1932 to Elo and Blanche (Sefcik) Eggemeyer. She graduated and then married her high school sweetheart, Richard, September 19, 1950. They lived in Alice, then moved to Corpus Christi in 1957, where they started Mathews Heating and Air Conditioning Company (sold in 1998).
Dorothy was a devote Catholic, prayed the rosary daily, and attended daily mass. She was a Charter Member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rosary and Altar Society, Prayer Line, Bridge Club and a member of Sultana De Baza.
Dorothy was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, greatly enjoying many hobbies and time spent with family and friends.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, Richard T Mathews Sr, her parents Blanche Marie (Sefcik) and Elo G Eggemeyer Sr, her brother Milton, one grandson Keith, and one great-grandson Byron.
She is survived and will be greatly missed by her 10 children: Linda Bodie, Helen Shelander, Richard Mathews, Jr. (Judy), Mary Wilson (Tim), Judy Boutte, David Mathews (Dee Dee), Dorothy Maxwell (Robert), Michael Mathews (Yvette), Carolyn Taylor (Warren), and Laurie Capeheart (Robert); 33 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; her sister: Blanche Grote, and her brother: E.G. Eggemeyer Jr. (Jo-Ann).
Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. at Maxwell P Dunne Funeral Home 1222 Morgan Avenue on Sunday, May 8, 2016 with a Rosary to be recited later that evening at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Pius X Catholic Church 5620 Gollihar Road on Monday, May 9, 2016 at 10 am. Interment to follow at Seaside Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
