Rita Lynn (Pate) Leonard, 60, passed away at DCH in Tuscaloosa on December 20, 2020. A private memorial graveside service will be held at a later date. Memory Chapel, a Dignity provider, is honored to be entrusted with final arrangements. Mrs. Leonard was born December 28, 1959. She worked tirelessly as a homemaker, always putting the needs of her family above her own. The matriarch of her family, she was a wonderful Wife, Mother and “Nana.” Everyone that knew Rita loved her and she had a special talent for being able to brighten even the darkest of days. Even at the age of 60, Rita still found fun and exemplified childlike wonder with new experiences everywhere she went. Mrs. Leonard was preceded in death by her Father: Clarence Pate. She is survived by her husband Teddy “Ted” Leonard of Coker, AL; and daughters: Tonya (Patrick) Jackson and Angela (Cheryl) Watts, both of Coker; her mother: Norma (Larry) O’Kelley and grandmother: Dorothy Harcrow; grandchildren: Nick Howton, Connor Howton, Tanner Jackson and Eric Jackson; sisters: Wanda Minor, Debbie House, Pam Pate, and Christie Hester; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family. The family requests no flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of choice.
