Margaret McKee, 83, of West Frankfort, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, July 21, 2009, at 11:04 a.m. at the Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion. She had been a resident of Westside Care and Rehabilitation Center in West Frankfort for 11 months. She was born July 11, 1926 in West Frankfort to H.C. "Red" Herrin and Minnie (Nickelvich) Herrin. She married Bill McKee on February 28, 1947, in West Frankfort, and together they celebrated 60 years of marriage. He preceded her in death on May 29, 2007. Survivors include 2 daughters, Jayma (Steve) Cook and Gaye Morris all of West Frankfort; 4 granddaughters, Stephanie (Dan) Odle and Mindy Morris (Matt Scott) of Louisville, Ky. Shannon (Chris) Epley of Mason, Ohio, and Meridy (John) Cooksey of West Frankfort; 9 great grandchildren, Rebekah, Jacob, Jaron, Micah and Ella Odle, Sydney Adamson, Olivia and Ava Scott and Lilyanne Cooksey. Also surviving 1 uncle, Wilburn Nickelvich of West Frankfort, several cousins, a brother-in-law, Eric and sister-in-law, Imogene McKee of West Frankfort, sister-in-law, Helen Wright, of Marion, two nieces and two nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Bill and infant sister, Gloria Jean. She was a 1944 graduate of Frankfort Community High School and after graduation, she worked for Bonifield Brothers Trucking in West Frankfort. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She provided her own personal day care to her four granddaughters for many years. She was their mentor, encourager, friend and a wonderful example of how a Godly woman should live. She was a charter member of Grace Baptist Fellowship in West Frankfort, where she faithfully served as Captain of the Prayer Ministry for many years. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her. Funeral services will be Friday, July 24, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Parker - Reedy Funeral Home in West Frankfort with Dan Odle officiating. Burial will be in the Tower Heights Cemetery in West Frankfort. Visitation will be after 9:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorial Contributions can be made to the Westside Care and Rehabilitation Center in West Frankfort or the Davita Dialysis Center in Marion and will be accepted at the funeral home.
