Frederick Bayard Kirwin

(1918 - 20 Jul 2017)

Frederick Bayard Kirwin Taught his family what life and love are truly about. Frederick Bayard Kirwin, 99-plus (almost 100) years old, of Hamilton, N.J., passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 20, 2017. Born in Coraopolis, Pa., Mr. Kirwin lived most of his life in St. Petersburg Beach, Fla. After the passing of the love of his life in 2002, his wife, Roberta Webb Kirwin, he resided with his loving daughter, Christine Kirwin Thibodeau and his son-in-law, Harry Thibodeau, and only grandchildren, Bryan, Gabrielle and Kyle Thibodeau, whom he cherished. Fred attended the University of Alabama, where he played basketball under coach Bear Bryant. He then served in World War II in the Army of the United States of America from 1944 to 1946. Fred was a corporal in Battery C, 569th Field Artillery Battalion. After the war, he worked as an engineer for Curtis Wright. Then he moved to Florida and was a district sales manager, salesman and independent contractor for Fuller Brush, Inc. When he retired, he and his wife served and gave everything to the community in several ways. Mr. Kirwin was an avid bridge player, card/game player and golfer. His passion was walking, especially on Pass-A-Grille Beach, playing Scrabble, doing crosswords, playing basketball, spending endearing time with his family, among various other activities. He was the most gentle, giving, loving, compassionate man, husband, father, Pop-Pop and great-Pop-Pop one could ever have in their lives. His smile was contagious, his jokes were the best to laugh at, and his compassion, love and generosity were beyond what anyone could expect to be blessed with. Thanks so much for sharing and teaching us what life and love are truly about! He was predeceased by his wife, Roberta Webb Kirwin; his parents, Roscoe and Esther Kirwin; and his brothers, Richard and Roscoe (Conky) Kirwin. He is survived by his beloved daughter, Christine Thibodeau and son-in-law, Harry Thibodeau, and only grandchildren, Bryan (Jenny), Gabrielle (Rob) Dauster and Kyle Thibodeau; and three great-grandchildren, Brady and Sloane Thibodeau and Chase Kirwin Dauster. Fred is also survived by his sons, Frederick Robert Kirwin and Richard James Kirwin (Anne), along with many other family and friends. As per Fred's wishes, he was cremated, as was his beloved wife. His ashes will join his wife's in the Gulf of Mexico at Pass-A-Grille Beach, Fla. (His great sense of humor showed when one day he told his daughter, Christine, to just toss them in their pool.) In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Fred's name to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 42040, Oklahoma City, Okla. 73123 or online at donate.cancer.org. Arrangements were under the kind direction of the Saul Colonial Home, 3795 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square, NJ. Condolences may be made at www.saulfuneralhomes.co
