Elmo Waters

Elmo Waters, 86, died Thursday, March 11, 2004, at Williamson Medical Center.
Mr. Waters was born in Williamson County, one of 13 children of the late Sam and Annie Harper Waters, and made his home in Franklin. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, was a retired painter and a member of Fourth Avenue Church of Christ. Mr. Waters was a devoted husband and father. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Seth Paul Waters.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Rachel Davis Waters of Franklin; three sons, James E. Waters of Dover, Del., and Gary Alan (Christina) Waters and Richard Davis Waters, both of Franklin; a daughter, Ann (Ronnie) Hood; a sister, Irene Clark, both of Franklin; five grandchildren, Dave (Kim) Waters of Chapel Hill, Jody Hood of Smyrna, Ashley Hood (Josh) Yates of Chapel Hill, Krissy Waters of Shelbyville and Caleb Waters of Shelbyville; and seven great-grandchildren, Brittany Ann Yates, Cade, Abigail and Caleb Waters, and Tristen, Austin and Chase Pierrot.
Funeral services will be held at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home with Jim Taylor and Tom Cook officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Dave Waters, Ronnie Hood, Jody Hood, Joe McMillan, Gerald Harper and Will Farris. Honorary pallbearers are employees of Porter Paint Co., Ernest Gatlin, Billy Shepherd, Doug Harper, members of Fourth Avenue Church of Christ, and nieces and nephews.
