Bettie Ulari King Purcell, 89, died Oct. 23, 2004, at one of her grandson's homes in Hartsville, Tennessee. She was a retired employee of The Palace in Red Boiling Springs, Tn., and a member of the Red Boiling Springs Church of Christ. Born in Macon County, Tenn., she was a daughter of the late John and Susan (Powell) King and the wife of Jay Mack Purcell, who died April 4, 1952. They were married in 1935. Survivors include one step-daughter and four daughters and two sons-in-law: Georgia Williams (step), Lebanon, Tn.; Maryedith (Jamie) Witt, Lavergne, Tn.; J-Dean Harrison, Middleton, Tn.; Carolyn and Bill Markham, Hartsville, Tn; and Alma Schulkers, Linden, Tn.; son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Carolyn Purcell, of Nashville, Tn; step-son and daughter-in-law Junior Mack and Lee Purcell, Lavergne, Tn; 32+ grandchildren, 35+ great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. A step-daughter, Ila Tuck, and a daughter-in-law, Violet (Junior) Purcell, preceded her in death. Graveside services were held at the Whitley Cemetery in Red Boiling Springs, Tn where she had lived and worked her whole life. Grandsons of the deceased served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were her great-grandchildren.
