Alma Luella McChesney, age 95, of Plainfield, Wisconsin went to our Lord Monday, May 28, 2012 at her home following a short illness.
Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. on Friday, June 1, 2012 at the Gould Rock Cemetery in Grand Marsh, Wisconsin. Rev. John K. Stake will officiate. Friends may call on Friday from 9 – 11 a.m. at Roseberry’s Funeral Home.
Alma was born March 4, 1917 in Adams, Wisconsin to Dorsey and Luella (Smith) Stampfley. She married John McChesney on January 2, 1943 in Camp Livingston, Louisiana. John preceded her in death in 1999. Thereafter she continued to live independently, enjoying her hobbies of baking, craft work, and reading. She also enjoyed gardening, especially her roses.
Alma was preceded in death by her parents, Dorsey and Luella Stampfley; husband, John McChesney; sons: Larry and Robert McChesney; grandsons: David and Duane Van Airsdale; and great-grandson, Devon McChesney.
Survivors include her daughters: Doris [Doris June Hammond] Van Airsdale of Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin and Mary McChesney of Hemet, California; sons: Jack (Shirley) McChesney of Louisville, Kentucky; Gary (Diane) McChesney of Plainfield, Wisconsin; and Donald (Darlene) McChesney of Almond, Wisconsin; 17 Grandchildren, 20 Great-Grandchildren, and 5 Great-Great-Grandchildren.
Roseberry’s Funeral Home is assisting the family.
