Dawn was born in Hutchinson, Kansas to Carroll F. Zimmerman and Helen F. O'Loughlin. She graduated from Hutchinson High School followed by Nurse's training at St. Elizabeth Hospital. In 1944 she married Albert Hunsucker. To this union there were three children, Sharol Linton and James Hunsucker of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Rebecca (Louis) Houston of Elsberry, Missouri.
After the death of Albert, Dawn married Joseph Faust. In the marriage there were two children, Michelle Flagor (Wayne) of Klamath Falls, Oregon and Mark Faust (Dawn) of Huntsville, Alabama.
Preceding Dawn in death were her parents, two brothers, Carl Zimmerman and Gregory Zimmerman, sister Joan Jones and infant sister, Betty, one son-in-law, James Hunsucker Jr. and Michael Hunsucker.
