Stephen Earl Mahan

Stephen, of Eaton Rapids, MI. passed away on January 13, 2017. On June 10 1948, In Eaton Rapids Michigan, Clayton and Joyce Mahan gave Birth to Stephen Earl Mahan, and with him, gave birth to the beginning of a great dynasty. Another son and four daughters would follow.
The charge of big brother was one he took very seriously. He considered it his duty as well as his great honor and privilege to love, protect, and care for them. Much of his early life was spent in Charlotte, in their childhood home on Shaw Street.
Later they would move to Eaton Rapids where he graduated from Eaton Rapids High school in 1967. In 1972 He married Ruby Saunders. They had two daughters to whom he was a devoted father. In 1980 they moved to Sebring Florida, where they enjoyed the year round fishing for four years before deciding to come home.
He enjoyed his work as a parts manager for Jack Dykstra Ford, a job his love of cars led him to tackle with enthusiasm. In spite of an early retirement, Steve's love of Art, science, and music kept him busy and his life and home were deeply imbued with these things.
He was a skilled and avid angler, and an amazing cook. Amateur radio was a great passion of his, appealing to both his love of science and socializing. Steve lived life with an amazing attention to detail, and a constant desire to care for others. His love was not limited to two legged creatures. The kind and ethical treatment of all Gods creatures was a cause dear to his heart.
On Friday January 13th, Steve joined his father and mother Clayton and Joyce Mahan, his grandparents, aunts and uncles, grandnephew Charlie Kendrick, many friends he has longed to be reunited with, and his most faithful canine companions, Lady and Duffy to be together with our Lord in Heaven.
He is survived by his daughters, Lorie Darling and Shella Guzman, his seven grandchildren Shayna and Jenneca Darling; Bernardo III, Liam, Ean, Simon and Amara Guzman, his brother Gary (Janice) Mahan, sisters Deborah (Steve) Haite, Joy (Frank) Malcangi, Susan Mahan, and Jill (Kirk) Allen as well as innumerable nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at Skinner Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids Chapel with Rev. Stephen Klink officiating. Burial was in Rosehill Cemetery, Eaton Rapids, MI.
