Jack Richard McGinnis

MSgt Jack Richard McGinnis, age 81, of Biloxi, MS, passed away on Sunday, September 6, 2020.
Jack was a native of Pocahontas, VA. He served for 22 years in the United States Air Force as a member of Security Forces and was a Civil Service employee for 16 years as a base detective at the Seabee base in Gulfport. He received numerous awards, medals and accolades for his service to our country. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Masons. Jack loved golf, golf, and more golf.
Mr. McGinnis was preceded in death by his mother and father, Sara Louella and Robert Layne McGinnis; his first wife, Martha Lea McGinnis, his sisters, Betty Lou Ballard and Mary Layne Palco; his infant brothers, John Michael (his twin) and Jimmy McGinnis.
Jack is survived by his wife of 10 years, Gladys Faye McGinnis; his children; Kelley (Jerry) Baker and Melissa (Robert) Shupe; his step daughters, Cheryl (Matthew) Micelli, Gretchen (Sammy) Benefield, Gina Brasfield and Patricia Brasfield; his grandchildren, Luke Garrett Baker, Gavin Layne Shupe, and Zachary Tyler Baker; numerous step-grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank all of the wonderful folks who assisted Jack during his battle with cancer; the great nurses, aids, therapists from SAAD Home Health, who made his last days a little brighter. The family is very grateful for all who assisted in helping and caring for him. While we are saddened by our loss, we know he is in a better place and free of all pain.
There will be a visitation from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport. The graveside service will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 10, 2020, at Biloxi National Cemetery.
