Robert Lee Rigdon, age 86, of Panama City, Fla., went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009.
He was born on Jan. 9, 1923, in West Bay, Fla. Robert graduated from Bay High School in 1940. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard in the Aleutian Islands, Alaska, during World War II. After the war, he returned to Panama City to work with International Paper Co. He retired as a shipping clerk from the paper mill in 1988 after 47 years of service. He was an active member of the Retirees of Panama City Mill, serving as treasurer for 16 years. He was a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church, where he served as bookkeeper for six years and usher for over 30 years.
Robert is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Martha Rigdon; two daughters, Lee Wood and husband Greg of Pensacola, Fla., and Lynn Nordlinder and husband Chris of North Dakota; four grandsons, Jordan Wood, Hampton Wood, Curt Ward and wife Javina, and Bruce Ward; and two great-granddaughters, Kenzie Ward and Kendall Ward.
