James William Rockett
(4 Jun 1792 - 22 Oct 1857)
Son of Richard & Eleanor (Abernathy) Rockett.
He married Eudocia Holcombe, Feb 1831. Both of them had grown up in Jefferson County, Alabama. They migrated to Mississippi with their families and all of their children except Joe (born lafayette Co., MS) were born here. However, after James' death, the widowed Eudocia took her family in an ox-drawn wagon and followed her sister Teresa Holcombe Hunt and her husband Rev. William Alva Hunt to Spearsville in North Louisiana.
The three youngest Rockett boys, Hosea, Joe ,and Tom moved with their mother to Louisiana; Several of the older children remained behind in Mississippi.
James William Rockett was the father of nine children;
