Rudolph (Rudy) Sanford, 86, of New Albany, died Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at Baptist Memorial Hospital- Union County in New Albany. He was born Sept. 11, 1923 in Good Springs, Ala. to the late George Washington and Minnie Jones Sanford. He was a retired electrician for Alabama Power Company and an U. S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of the New Albany Church Of Christ.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 20, 2009 at United Funeral Service chapel with Minister Ray Kennedy officiating. Interment was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. United Funeral Service in New Albany was charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include a sister, Dessie Lee Allred of New Albany, his cousin and caregiver, John Sanford of New Albany and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Vera Mae Hanley Sanford and his parents.
Pallbearers were Andy Baker, Jason Allred, Brad Allred, Greg Allred, Danny Allred, David Allred, Seth Allred and Benny Allred.
In honor of Mr. Rudy Sanford, United Funeral Service, Inc. will fly the flag of the U.S. Navy at the funeral home during visitation and service.
