James Daniel Jent

(Nov 1855 - 20 Jun 1967)

James D Jent was born November 8,1855 and departed this life April 4,1911. Bro. Jent was only sick four days, with a severe case of pneumonia. All that could be done for him in the way of medical aid was done, but alas the summons for him came. He bore his pain with patience, and was constantly praying the Lord to help him bear it.
Bro. Jent was a member of the Baptist Church. His conviction and faith was firm in the resurredtion and final judgment and while we miss his association here, we await with the sweet assurance that we will meet him again, where death will be swalled up in victory and where sorrow will fell away.
Bro. Jent leaves a wife and eight children, a brother and sister, besides hosts of friends to mourn his death. All of his children were present when the end came.
His remains were laid to rest at Goodsprings Cemetery in the presence of a large assemblage of friends, the burial being conducted by Rev. Turner from 1st Corinthians 15:35, and as the poet says:

Another one from us is gone,
Another voice is stilled,
A place is vacant in that home
That never can be filled.
His friend, G.W. Short Sr.
