Services for Nealen Ray, 90, of Lufkin, will be held at Denman Avenue Baptist Church, with Reverend Charles Roberts and Reverend Kevin Roy officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
Mr. Ray was born March 13, 1923 in Angelina County, Texas, the son of the late Lottie (Garrison) and Jesse James Ray. He passed away Monday, January 27, 2014 in a local nursing facility.
Mr. Ray was a self-employed owner/operator of several Texaco Oil & Gas full service stations in the Lufkin area. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Garland L. Ray of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Sue Walker of Houston; daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and David Tankersley of Lufkin; grandchildren, Trent, Katie and Jenny Tankersley of Lufkin; nephews, Garry Ray, Ricky Ray, Billy Frank Ray, Tony Cain, Ronnie Lee, and Elbert Platt; niece, Lottie Jean Collins; sister-in-law, Betty Ray; and a number of other family members.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Ray was preceded in death by his sisters, Esther Hollis, Stella Ray McGilbery and Agnes Cain; and brothers, Jesse Ray Jr., and J. C. Ray.
Services placed in trust of Gipson Funeral Home.
