Joseph T. "J.T." Strickland, 88, passed away at home surrounded by family on Sunday, March 2, 2014. A Phoenix-native, at age 16 he joined the Navy and was a decorated WWII veteran. He then went on to a 35-year career at Arizona Public Service (APS) until his retirement. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, a can of Copenhagen and women. J.T. is survived by his two children, John Thomas Strickland and Kathryn Ruth Strickland; 2 sisters, 1 brother, 5 grandsons (preceded in death by his granddaughter), 6 adopted grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, a great-great grandson "Vinny", as well as many other relatives and friends. Visitation is 5:00-8:00p.m. on Sunday, March 9, 2014 at Hansen Mortuary, 8314 N. 7th Street, Phoenix, AZ 85020. Funeral service will also be held at Hansen Mortuary at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, March 10, 2014 with burial services to follow at the National Memorial Cemetery of AZ, 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd, Phoenix.
