Mrs. Jean Crawford Tatum, 91, of Corsicana, passed away on November 14, 2015. Graveside service will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, November 17, 2015, in Oakwood Cemetery in Corsicana, Texas. Officiating the service will be Dr. Steven Bell of the First United Methodist Church.
Jean was born in Blooming Grove, Texas, to the late William Alexander Crawford and Thelma McClendon Crawford.
She was a graduate of Blooming Grove High School and also attended Tarleton in Stephenville, Texas, Wesleyen University and the North Texas State University where she graduated with a B.A. in Education and a certification in Business and English in 1944. She later received an M.A. in Education from Sam Houston State University.
She taught for 34 years total at the Blooming Grove High School, Corsicana State Home and Corsicana I.S.D. where she retired in 1983. She married Mr. Ralph Tatum, Jr. on July 7, 1962. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church and in her retirement years, she was a volunteer for the Navarro College and Food for Fitness.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Tatum, Jr.; and brothers, Jim Crawford and Mack Crawford.
Survivors include her son, Ralph Crawford Tatum; niece, Sharon Mahoney and husband, David; other relatives and many friends.
