SAMFORD, Michael Michael Lee Samford, 62, of Johns Creek, Georgia, died Wednesday, April 28, 2010 of accidental causes. Michael was born in Atlanta, Georgia, September 23, 1947 to Dudley Barnett Samford and Mary Elizabeth Cooper. After initially pursuing a degree in music at Shorter College, Michael served in the Armed Forces and was a Vietnam Veteran. After being honorably discharged, he completed his Bachelor's degree in Accounting at Georgia State University. Michael was Secretary and Treasurer of a successful general construction company, T & B Scottdale Contractors. He was also an avid golfer, snow skier, and world traveler, having visited Israel, Russia, Austria and Germany. He spent a summer driving from Atlanta to Alaska and back. He was a member of Hidden Hills and Atlanta Athletic Clubs and a longtime member of Perimeter Church. Michael was preceded in death by his mother Mary Cooper Wade. Michael is survived by his wife, Deborah; sons Anthony Lee and Michael Alexander; daughter, Leslie Ann and granddaughter, Guinnevere Pearl. Survivors also include his parents, Dudley Barnett Samford and Edna Earle Samford; brothers, Dudley Samford Jr., Preston Samford, and Daniel Wade; a sister, Carolyn Sanders; uncles, Thomas P. Samford and George Cooper. Michael also had numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. The memorial services honoring Michael will be held at 11:00 AM, May 3, 2010 at H.M. Patterson & Son, Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Rd., Sandy Springs, Georgia 30328.
