Donald Ray Salmon

(10 May 1934 - 26 Oct 2018)

Ancestry ID: D.S. (managed by lpasalmon)
Shares 26 cM of DNA with Rex Wilson

My message to lpasalmon on 20 June 2021:
You manage the DNA test for D.S., who I suppose was Donald Ray Salmon. His 2nd great grandfather, Robinson B. Salmon, was married to Julian Vaughn, who second married my 2nd great grandfather, Joseph Greer Jr. My 26 cM DNA match to D.S. seems to be impossible unless her son, Dr Robinson Vaughan Salmon, was fathered by Joseph Greer, or else there is some other link to my family tree in your pedigree. I have added lpasalmon as a guest to view my family tree. T. Rex Wilson

My second message on 30 May 2022:
I have a 26 cM DNA match with Donald Salmon, whose DNA test is managed by lpasalmon. lpasalmon is either not a DNA match with me (Rex Wilson) or has not taken a DNA test. However, Donald Salmon is associated with lpasalmon's account and is also in Lynette Vorthem’s Family Tree and the Salmon Family Tree.
I suppose that Donald Salmon is MSGT Donald Ray Salmon, born 10 May 1934 - died 26 October 2018.
In trying to figure out how I am related to Don Salmon, I first looked at the ancestors of his paternal grandfather, Henry Wagner Salmon, whose paternal grandmother, Julian Vaughan was first married to Robinson B. Salmon and second married to my ancestor Joseph Greer, Jr. Joseph Greer, Jr was first married to Jane Murray Wilson, my great-great grandmother, and second to Julian Vaughan. These ancestors cannot be the source of the DNA that I share with Donald Salmon because the relationship is of stepparents and not a blood relation.
Next, I looked at the ancestors of Don’s paternal grandmother, Stella Maude Sanford. Her parents were Marcus Alonzo Sanford and Caroline Dallas Thomas. The parents of Marcus Alonzo were Asa Sanford and Catherine Green Hanson. The parents of Asa are uncertain, but Asa’s grandparents are probably William Keene Samford and Winifred Dowden, my fifth great grandparents. I descend from their younger son, Thomas, but there were other surviving sons named William, Samuel, Jesse, and Asa, and one of them is probably the father of the Asa Sanford in your family tree. (Some of their descendants changed the spelling of the surname from Samford to Sanford).
