Longtime Delta, Colorado resident, Geneva L. Smith, passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2014 at Delta County Memorial Hospital in Delta, Colorado. She was 88 years old.
Viewing will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Delta, Colorado.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at the Delta City Cemetery in Delta, Colorado, with James Gall officiating.
Geneva L. Nix was born on February 16, 1925 in Panther Creek, Oklahoma, to Doyle William and Ethel Ollie (Smyres) Nix. She attended school in Ada, Oklahoma.
In October 1955, Geneva married the love of her life, Harold E. Smith in Ada, Oklahoma. Geneva was a loving mother and homemaker to Harold and her daughter, Sharon. They moved from Ada, Oklahoma to Delta, Colorado in 1963.
Geneva loved working in her yard and reading her Bible. She also enjoyed cooking, sewing and yard sales. Most of all, Geneva loved spending time with her grandchildren and family.
Geneva is survived by her only daughter, Sharon Gray, of Delta, CO; a brother, Gene (Jenny) Nix, of Oklahoma City, OK; two sisters: JoAnn Sewell, of Leesville, LA, and Sue Harper, of Oklahoma City, OK; four grandchildren: Michael Isom, Kelly Weber, Stacy Johnson and Brian Gray; and six great-grandchildren: Kayden Isom, Zach Weber, Megan Weber, Emmalee Johnson, Colton Johnson, Lola Gray, and one on the way.
Geneva was preceded in death by her parents, Doyle and Ethel Ollie Nix; husband, Harold Smith; four brothers and two sisters.
