Donald Ray Allen Sr.

Donald Ray Allen, Sr., son of Bob and Naomi (Edmondson) Allen ,was born August 31, 1943 in Kansas City, Missouri. He departed this life Saturday, November 25, 2017 in Lake Regional Health Systems, Osage Beach, Missouri, at the age of seventy-four years. On January 20, 1993, Don was united in marriage to Teffra Calvert, and together they have shared nearly twenty-five years of laughter, delicious food, and white, sandy beaches. Don was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Dennis Allen. He is survived by his wife, Teffra, of the home; his children, Donnie Allen, Jr., and wife Amy, of Versailles, Missouri, Matthew Allen, of St. Louis, Missouri, and Alisha Allen, of Osage Beach, Missouri; a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother, Richard Allen and wife Terry, of Humansville, Missouri; a sister, Marilyn Hood, of Raytown, Missouri; a number of nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and dear friends. Don spent his early years living in the Kansas City area and was a graduate of Raytown High School in 1961. He attended Central Missouri State University for a time before moving back to Kansas City. Don was drafted into the United States Army on November 23, 1966, and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged on November 12, 1968. Don followed the call to be a pastor and received his Ministerial Degree from Rhema Bible College. He served the congregation of Sunrise Baptist Church as Senior Pastor from 1985-1991. He was a member of the Rhema Ministerial Alliance for many years. In 2006, Don started the Family of God Church and was serving as Senior Pastor at the time of his passing. Don owned and operated I.B. Nuts & Fruit Too as well as I.B. Cooking & Catering Too for many years. He was active in the Camdenton VFW POST 5923, and was an attendee on the Central Missouri Honor Flight in November of 2016. In his spare time, Don enjoyed cooking, traveling to many beautiful beaches, and participating in numerous trivia nights. While he loved doing these things, Don never missed an opportunity to share his first love, Jesus Christ, with everyone who had an ear to hear or a need that needed filled - regardless of circumstance, time, or distance. We celebrate his life and accomplishments and will treasure the wonderful memories he has created for his family and many dear friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home with burial with military honors following the service at Allee Memorial Gardens, Camdenton, Missouri. Visitation will be held from 5:00 �?7:00 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
