Archola Maye Martin

Archola Maye Bruner, 95, of Elk City, Oklahoma was born on July 18, 1925 in Kelton, Texas. She is the daughter of George Luther and Carrie Maye (Turner) Martin. Archola passed on December 29, 2020 at Great Plains Regional Medical Center, Elk City, Oklahoma.
She accepted the Lord at the age of 13. Archola was a member of the First Baptist Church in Erick, Oklahoma. She married Robert E. Bruner Sr. on April 4, 1946 in Erick, Oklahoma. Archola was employed with the Public Service company in Erick and Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
Her husband, Bob’s occupations took them to Nebraska, San Antonio, Arlington, and El Paso. His job also took them to Germany where they traveled extensively to all of western Europe including Greece, Crete, England and Mexico. He was a technical representative on the Sargent Missile project for ten years. They came back to Erick after 30 years where Archola worked for Wilhelm Honey Farm and then became the manager of Erick Rental Housing. She helped organize and was on the Board of Directors for the First Meridian Museum and the first Meals on Wheels for Senior Citizens.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 4, 2021 at Martin-Dugger Funeral Home Chapel in Elk City, Oklahoma. Doc Ware will officiate. Interment will be at Erick Cemetery in Erick, Oklahoma. Services have been entrusted to the care of Richard and Tammy Dugger and the staff of Martin-Dugger Funeral Home in Elk City, Oklahoma.
Cherishing her memory is her two sons, Steven Bruner and his wife, Paula of Lewisville, Texas, Robbie Bruner and his wife, Shanna of Elk City, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Michael Barnes of The Colony, Texas, Kristen Bruner of Lewisville, Texas, Bailey Bruner and Abigail Bruner of Elk City, Oklahoma; three great grandchildren; Kaya Barnes, Harley Barnes and Levi Barnes all of The Colony, Texas; many other loving family members and friends.
Preceded in death by her husband, Bob; parents, George and Carrie Martin; four sisters, Ruth Irene Pugh, Pearl Lucille Gunkel, Connie Maxine Wilhelm and Florence Joy Day; one infant brother.
