Bernard Lee Burton, of Simi Valley, died Friday, March 9, 2012, in Hollywood at the age of 80. His ashes will be scattered in the mountains, per his wishes.
Lee was born Feb. 21, 1932, in Amarillo Texas; the last of seven children born to Bernard and Mattie Burton. He was raised in Childress, Texas, and joined the Marine Corps in 1950. He married his darling Frances on April 11, 1953. He made Technical Sergeant (appointed by the Chesty Puller) and eventually left the Marines to pursue a productive career in electronics. He filed several successful patents on his way to retirement from Bendix Oceanics Inc., Sylmar in 1987. He loved learning, teaching and was an oracle to many, navigating many varied subjects with ease. He loved to tell jokes and entertaining stories and was known to perform slight-of-hand on occasion. Most of all, he loved to play with his children and grandchildren.
Lee is preceded in death by four of his sisters, and recently, his brother.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Frances Burton; his sister, Claudia Mink; children, Mardi, Bjorn and Mary; grandchildren, Kyle, Kurtis, Tyler, Zak and Quentin; great-grandchildren, Jacob and Kasidy.
