Harry Marvin Chapin

AUSTIN, TEXAS - Harry M. Chapin, age 80, died peacefully at his home on Friday, Nov. 28, 2008. Born in Crookston, Minnesota, on Jan. 31, 1928, he grew up in Grand Forks, North Dakota, where his father Harry, worked for the Great Northern Railroad. He served in the Navy from 1945 until 1953 and saw the world. He went on to work for Western Electric Telephone Company where he made many life long friends and met his future wife, Salome Kimberley. In 1963, they moved to McFarland, and started a family.
Following Salome's death in 2003, Harry moved to Austin, Texas, to enjoy the never ending sunshine. Harry lived an active and fulfilling life: cooking, gardening and spinning tales of days gone by. He will be profoundly missed by his daughters, Angela (Tommy) Holt and Christina (Mark) Fogarty; and his beloved grandchildren, Casey and Shannon Holt both of Austin, Texas and Emma, John and Caitlin Fogarty of Appleton; many relatives; numerous friends; and his dog, Tootsie.
A memorial service was held at Christ the King Catholic Church in McFarland on Saturday, Dec. 20, 2008.
