Dr. MITCHELL HURST ALLEN, 60, 498 Connecticut Ave., died unexpectedly at 12 noon Saturday, at General Hospital after a brief illness. Native of Horse Shoe, NC, son of the late MITCHELL J. and CYNTHIA CASE ALLEN; member f Bethel Methodist Church, served on Official Board several years. Attended University of North Carolina, graduate of Emory University Medical School. Dr. ALLEN practiced in Cramerton, NC before comming here in 1946. He was twice married. First to the late Mrs. MARY LUCILLE POWELL ALLEN who died in 1959. Surviving this union: daughters, Mrs. D. MOODY SMITH, Jr., Worthington, Ohio, Mrs. PAUL B. GUTHERY, Jr., Charlotte, NC; Son, Dr. MITCHELL HURST ALLEN, Jr. Winston-Salem, NC. Dr. ALLEN's second wife is Mrs. MARY LOU CLARY ALLEN. Also surviving: brother, LOUIS J. ALLEN, Asheville, NC; four grandchildren. Services 2 p.m. Monday, Bethel Methodist Church, the Revs. E. PAUL McWHIRTER, H. E. BULLINGTON, WALLACE FRIDY. Burial Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The Official Board of the church and the Spartanburg County Medical Society will form the hononrary escort. Family asks that in lieu of flowers, those desiring to, make memorials to Epworth Children's Home, Columbia or Bethel Methiodist Church building Fund.
