Charles Ferd Wilson of Midland, Texas, passed away Saturday, May 18th at Medical Center hospital in Odessa Texas. He was 81 years old. Charles, who is better known as Ferd, was born on August 7, 1931 to Carl Douglas Wilson and Emma Lee Wilson in Iraan, Texas. Ferd served in the United States Navy for 22 years before retiring in 1970 as an AK-1. It was during this service that he met the love of his life, Sonia Rosemary Weber. They married in 1956 in Tangier, French Morocco in North Africa. This started a long loving marriage that traveled the world and settled down in Midland, Texas after retiring a second time from Phillips Petroleum Company. Ferd was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Charles Ferd Wilson Jr. and his brother, Stanton Wilson. Charles is survived by his wife Sonia, sons, Carl Alan Wilson and wife Rhonda of Midland, Patrick Michael Wilson of Midland, Michael Ferd Wilson and wife Karla of Midland, Kent Douglas Wilson and wife Denise of Fort Worth, TX; twin daughters, Alicia Louise Thomas and husband Donald of Keller, TX, Sonya Jean Johnson and husband Gary of Midland; brother Buzz Wilson of Mansfield TX; sister, Douglas Ann Blue of Crane, TX; 15 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Ferd was dearly loved and will be missed on this earth, but we know he is in a better place and we will see him again someday in Heaven. A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00pm on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at Ellis Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 10:30am on Wednesday, May 22 at Resthaven Memorial Park.
